DongA Pencil Co., Ltd., established in 1946 as the first stationery company in Korea, has steadily grown over the decades.
In 1963, the company began exporting pencils and expanded its product range by establishing Dong-A Educational Materials Co., Ltd. in 1974 to produce and sell crayons, paints, and other educational supplies. Designated as the official merchandiser for the 1986 Asian Games and the 1988 Seoul Olympics, DongA Pencil enhanced its product diversification through character licensing, packaging design, and branded merchandise.
In 1990, the company founded Dong-A Engineering Co., Ltd., equipped with the largest injection molding facilities in Korea, driving advancements in technology and product quality. As a result, it launched the capped gel pen in 1997 and a scented gel pen in 1998, leading the domestic gel pen market.
In recognition of its design excellence, DongA Pencil won the Grand Prize at the New Product Competition in 1998 and 2000 and the Presidential Award for Design Management Excellence in 2000. By obtaining international certifications such as ISO 9002, ISO 14001, AP, and ACMI, the company ensured global-quality standards from product planning to mass production.
In 1999, the company established Guangju Dong-A Stationery in China, solidifying its position as a leading global stationery manufacturer.
